A jewelry display case key has gone missing at a mass merchandise department store. Five employees suspected of taking the key are detained in a break room for interrogation. Fearful they will all be fired if the key and the person responsible are not found, the five employees struggle to unite. This struggle exposes the fears, aspirations, and resentments of five very different lives, and is resolved only when the character who seems the most self-interested turns out to be the most perceptive of the needs of the needs of the others.
